Laurentine: A Handwritten Font That Makes Your Brand Feel Thoughtful

It started with a candle label. I’d just launched my small-batch soy candle line—hand-poured in my garage, scents named after local trails, labels printed on kraft paper. Everything felt intentional… except the font. The default script I’d used for the scent name looked cheerful but forgettable, like something from a generic design app. Customers loved the candles—but when they posted photos online, the label blurred into the background. I realized: my brand wasn’t being *seen*, not really. Not in the way I wanted.

That’s when I found Laurentine.

Laurentine isn’t just another script font—it’s a distinct, delicate, and timeless handwritten typeface from Script Amp, designed with quiet confidence. It doesn’t shout. It leans in. Its strokes have gentle contrast, subtle flourishes, and natural rhythm—like ink drawn slowly with care. There’s warmth in its curves, elegance in its spacing, and a softness that feels human, not algorithmic. It’s the kind of font that makes people pause mid-scroll, tilt their head, and think, “Hmm—that feels special.”

For my candle labels, Laurentine transformed everything. I used it for the scent names—“Pine Hollow,” “Salt Marsh Dawn”—in clean, centered lines against uncoated kraft. Suddenly, the packaging didn’t just hold a candle—it held intention. Same with my thank-you cards tucked inside orders: a short note in Laurentine, paired with a simple sans serif for the address, felt personal without being fussy. No more “cute overload.” Just clarity, charm, and consistency.

Laurentine shines brightest where you want to evoke sincerity, craftsmanship, or quiet luxury. Think: your café’s seasonal menu header, your skincare brand’s ingredient callouts, your boutique’s gift tags, your coaching business’s Instagram quote graphics, or your handmade ceramics’ studio stamp. It works beautifully on physical items—printed business cards, sticker seals, jar labels, bakery boxes—and digitally too: website banners, Etsy shop headers, Pinterest pins, even email subject lines (when rendered as images). Because it’s a premium display font, it’s best used for short, high-impact text: logos, product titles, headlines, quotes, monograms, and decorative accents—not long paragraphs.

Readability? Yes—it’s clear and legible at medium sizes (14pt and up) on printed materials and mobile screens. On tiny jar labels or narrow stickers, I stick to 10–12pt and avoid ultra-thin weights. For social thumbnails, I use it boldly at 24–36pt with generous letter spacing—no crowding. And because Laurentine includes OpenType features like ligatures and stylistic alternates, I can swap in a prettier “&” or soften a sharp “t” ending—small tweaks that make each piece feel custom, not templated.

Pairing is intuitive. I almost always pair Laurentine with a clean, neutral sans serif—think Montserrat, Inter, or Lato—for body text, addresses, or pricing. The contrast lets Laurentine breathe while grounding the design in modern simplicity. For a more editorial or elevated look—say, a boutique’s holiday lookbook—I’ll layer it over a refined serif like Playfair Display. Never two scripts together unless one is extremely minimal; Laurentine’s personality is strong enough to carry the moment on its own.

Before downloading, I checked what was included: full character sets (including accented letters for French and Spanish names), OTF and TTF files, multilingual support, and most importantly—clear commercial licensing. As a small business owner, I needed to know I could use Laurentine on product packaging, client deliverables, digital templates I sell, and merch—without worrying about permissions. Script Amp’s license covers all of that, which meant zero friction between inspiration and execution.

What surprised me most wasn’t how pretty it looked—it was how much *easier* branding became. With Laurentine as my go-to for voice-driven moments—logos, quotes, packaging titles—I stopped second-guessing fonts. My Canva templates stayed consistent. My Instagram Stories had visual rhythm. Even my printed receipts got a subtle upgrade with Laurentine used just for the shop name. Customers began mentioning “how lovely the packaging feels” or “how calming the tone is”—not because I changed my voice, but because the typography finally matched it.

Typography isn’t decoration. It’s your brand’s first handshake. Laurentine makes that handshake warm, assured, and memorable—like someone extending their hand with eye contact and a quiet smile. It tells people, before they read a word, that you pay attention to detail. That you value beauty *and* function. That your business isn’t rushed—it’s considered.

If you’re refreshing labels, redesigning menus, launching a new product line, or simply tired of fonts that feel interchangeable, try Laurentine. Not as a trend—but as a tool. A thoughtful, reliable, deeply human typeface built for small businesses who believe that how something looks matters just as much as what it does.
